Those of you who've ready my blog for awhile will remember what I've shared about my mother and extraordinary quilting accomplishments. Our family has been the awed witnesses and grateful recipients of her creations, always wondering what would spring forth next as she hummed away at her machine. At times we were mystified by terms like "Stitch in the Ditch" and "Fussy Cutting", but in the end we were also amazed at the stunning result. And even more amazing, mom used each of her quilts as a spur for making the next one that much more exquisite.
Mom moved to Texas this summer, which was a bittersweet life change for her. However my brother Dan had the foresight to spend some time with her ahead of that move, asking about the quilts and what she felt and thought about as she put them together. . He captured her essence perfectly I think. Please click on the link below to see the video Dan produced.
I'm very proud to share my mother and her quilts.

Your brother did a beautiful job with his video. You have much to be proud of.
Happy new Year!
I'm stunned at the beauty of these quilts. Not only the design and color but the quilted ground itself. Just beautiful! Such talent. And your brother did a great job capturing it all.
What a wonderful tribute to your mother and her amazing skill. Her quilts are so beautiful! And her anniversary quilt just blew me away. It was very smart of your brother to make that video. It will be a family heirloom on day. Laura
I am always amazed at such beautiful quilts!!! Your family can keep that video for the future generations who may be lucky enough to have one of her quilts!
These quilts are all so beautiful. Your mother is an extraordinarily talented quilter.
I'm saving this video for when I have the time to watch. I know your mom is an amazing quilter and look forward to watching!
Oh, Mary, thank you so very much for sharing the wonderful video of your beautiful mom and her amazing quilts. I had a smile on my face the whole time I was watching it--her work is stunning... And I'm so glad your brother put together a video to celebrate her work--just wonderful. (Do you happen to know what the name of the song is that played in the background? I really liked it, too!)
Beautiful quilts--quiet a story your Mother has to tell. Your family will be so happy they have her quilts, her story and her video in years to come
Your mothers talent is beyond words, how lucky for you all to have one of her quilts, and the video was quite special also. Talented family. Happy New Year to you all
Wow! I'm so glad you mentioned the video in your new post. I forgot to watch it when I was planning to at a time that I could sit and enjoy. Well that time is now. What a talent your mom is! I am so bowled over by all her beautiful quilts. And she machine quilts on a regular machine? All those huge quilts? That must be a challenge in itself! Well, we know where your talent comes from anyway! What an amazing woman your mom is. That 50th anniversary quilt is something special!
What a beautiful lady! I loved the message if the pitiful pillow! Thanks for sharing and thank you to your brother for such a well done video. It does your mom and her quilts justice. I have tears in my eyes! The song was perfect. I loved how he edited it the quilt looked like Christmas lights when that was mentioned in the song. Thanks! It was great to meet your mom.
I loved the video! It brought tears to my eyes because she reminds me so much of my Mom, who lives right across the street from me, and I can imagine how hard it was to see her move. She is also a quilter and the one who taught me everything I know about all things stitching.
You are all so lucky to have both your mom and her amazing quilts to share with your family. She makes it all look so easy and I know it is not.
I just love the story of the pitiful pillow!
Thanks for sharing your Mom with us...I sent the link to my Mom, she will love seeing the video!
Hugs
Wow, Mary! I've admired your mom's AQS quilt and didn't even know the connection! In another life I was a rabid quilter. Then I rediscovered stitching. All this to say I'm in awe. You are blessed with one super talented mom. Now I know where you get it from. What a treasured that video.
Such beautiful quilts, Mary. What a talented quilter your mum is and what treasures she has made. Just gorgeous!
Wow! Great video of your Mom! She is so very talented! I truly enjoyed seeing the video of all her quilts--well, maybe not all but LOTS of them probably! They are beautiful! Hugs!
I've just found your blog and couldn't let this opportunity pass by without telling you that your mother's quilts are master pieces! I'm a quilter and a cross stitcher both, and I have never made a quilt to compare with hers. What a gift she has in this talent. blessings, marlene
